The MCG-40 has been described as the perfect beginner’s guitar. The ¾ model with its shorter scale and narrower fingerboard is ideal for younger or smaller players. It has a solid cedar soundboard with laminated mahogany back and sides. A wonderfully comfortable and playable mahogany neck is complemented by a rosewood fingerboard.
The combination of cedar and mahogany is a popular combination with luthiers. The warm tones with sweet trebles, great mids and bass that’s not too overpowering really delivers.
The MCG-40 is popular among Katoh guitars. It is the model with the greatest number of options with varying soundboards, scale lengths, left hand and EQ cutaway models available.
